In recognition of his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive leadership, the Teworh Children and Youth Foundation has honoured the President of the Hockey Federation of Nigeria, Engr. Simon Nkom, with the Visionary Leadership with Empathy Award.
The award ceremony, held in Abuja, celebrated Engr. Nkom’s remarkable efforts in amplifying the voices of young Nigerians and ensuring their active participation in national development and discourse.
The Foundation praised his people-centered approach to leadership and his dedication to creating platforms that empower young people across various sectors.
While presenting the Award in his office in Abuja, the Foundation’s CEO, Dr. Suraj Ola Abdulwahad, described Engr. Nkom as “a leader who not only envisions progress but takes deliberate steps to ensure young people are part of the journey.” He added that the award is reserved for individuals who demonstrate not just vision, but also empathy in their leadership core values the Foundation seeks to promote.
In his response, a visibly moved Engr. Nkom expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to youth-focused policies and programmes.
“I believe the future of Nigeria lies in the strength and innovation of its young people,” he said. “We must continue to create opportunities for them to be seen, heard, and supported.”
