Former Big Brother Naija housemate Pere Egbi has sparked conversation online after advising young single women in Nigeria against living alone.
In a post on his X account, the reality TV star recommended that single women should always have company at home for safety and companionship.
“Personal advice to young women living in Nigeria who are single, don’t live alone by yourself. Have someone stay with you always. A friend, family member/s. It’s never a cool thing to live alone as a woman,” he wrote.
When a fan asked if the advice was linked to the recent death of female singer Ifunanya Nwangene—who reportedly died after being bitten by a snake in her Abuja residence—Pere responded: “everything.”
He went on to clarify that he believes living alone is generally not advisable for anyone, regardless of gender.
The comment has drawn mixed reactions online. While some users agreed with the safety concerns—especially in light of recent incidents—others felt the advice placed unnecessary restrictions on women’s independence and personal choices.
