Delta government has reiterated it’s commitment to continue to ensuring peace in the state and warned mischief makers to shun divisive utterances capable of breaching peace of the state.

The state commissioner for Works ,Rural roads, and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu who gave the warning at a press briefing yesterday in Asaba,  said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to a peaceful Delta.

“Over the past week, some mischief makers in the state have been busy spreading false and unfounded allegations about governance in the state.

“But one thing they have failed to realise is that Governor Oborevwori can never be distracted in his resolve for a peaceful and prosperous Delta.

“The Governor, we all know is committed to a peaceful state, where all round development can thrive.

“He has equally demonstrated his strong conviction to build a united Delta where every one, across ethnic divide can call home”, Aniagwu said.

According to him, the administration of Oborovwori has done so much in terms of development projects, across the 25 local council areas of the state.

He said there is no town or community across the three senatorial districts of the state that have not been impacted by Governor Oborevwori’s developmental stride.

The commissioner further stated that the governor has also shown fairness in governance in his appointments and even distribution of projects and human empowerment initiatives.

He said: “Governor Oborevwori has continued to pilot the affairs of Delta not along ethnic line, but with fairness, equity and inclusiveness.

“Under his four-point developmental agenda, governor Oborevwori recognises that peace and security remain the bedrock of development.

“Only recently, the governor directed the setting up of a peace and reconciliation committee to engage aggrieved individuals and groups for the purpose of achieving peace”.

Aniagwu used the medium to call on the political class and opinion leaders in the state to shun divisive tendencies and support the Oborevwori administration to make the state better for all.
