Tella’s Reappointment Is Well-deserved – Oyo State INEC Officials

Reappointment of Prof. Adeniran Tella as the Resident Electoral Commissioner ,REC, for Oyo State has been described as well-deserved, considering his good track record during his first tenure.

The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports that this was the consensus of a cross section of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission ,INEC, in Ibadan, yesterday.

The state Administrative Secretary of INEC, Mrs Rosemary Adeniyi, told NAN that Tella’s reappointment reflected the commission’s recognition of his exceptional leadership, integrity, and outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s electoral process.

Adeniyi noted that under the leadership of Tella, INEC in the state was characterised by optimum performances across departments.

She expressed optimism that the second tenure of the reappointed REC would better enhance staff performances and welfare.

Other members of staff also hailed Tella’s reappointment, saying that his excellent leadership style deserved applause.

NAN recalls that Tella was transferred from Ekiti to Oyo State in November 2022, and his first five-year tenure ended in August 2025.

He was, however, reappointed in Abuja on Tuesday by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, who administered the Oath of Office to him as Oyo REC.

Tella, at the event, pledged to uphold professionalism and be strictly guided by the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He expressed profound gratitude for the renewed confidence placed in him.

He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening electoral integrity, stakeholders’ engagement, and institutionalising excellence in Oyo State, while leveraging his academic and international experience to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
