Osun: Man In Court For Threat To Life 

Johnson Olayemi, 32, on Monday appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrate Court for alleged threat to life.

The Prosecutor, Ifeoluwa Oyewole, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 6 at about 09:50am at Lagaba Village,  Ifetedo in Ife South Local Government.

Oyewole alleged that the defendant forcefully entered into Adebowale Ibrahim’s farm with intent to cause breach of peace.

He added that the defendant conducted himself in a manner that would have caused breach of public peace.

According to him, the defendant allegedly threatened to kill Ibrahim and his farm workers.

The prosecutor stated that the offence contravened Sections 81, 86 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of forceful entering, breach of peace and threat to life.

Magistrate Taofeek Badmus granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

Badmus said the surety must swear to an affidavit of means and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He said the surety must be gainfully employed with good character and his home address must be verified by the police.

He added that the surety must present his means of identification; three years tax clearance certificates and three recent passport photographs.

The magistrate ordered that should the defendant fail to meet his bail requirements, he should be remanded at Ile-Ife Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail.

The case was adjourned until August 18 for hearing.
