Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful and business-friendly environment across the state, assuring the Igbo community and other law-abiding residents of the protection of their lives, property and investments.
The governor gave the assurance during an interactive meeting with leaders of the Igbo community from the 17 local government areas of Plateau State, held at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, over the weekend.
Mutfwang described the Igbo community as a vital partner in the economic development of Plateau State, noting that its contributions to commerce, industry and investment have played a significant role in driving economic growth.
He said his administration would continue to prioritise policies that promote peace, strengthen security and create an enabling environment capable of attracting investments and supporting business expansion.
According to the governor, the relationship between the Plateau State Government and the Igbo community remains rooted in mutual respect, trust and a shared commitment to development.
“The relationship between Plateau State and the Igbo community is founded on mutual trust, respect and a shared vision for progress.
“We deeply value your contributions and remain committed to protecting every law-abiding resident while creating a peaceful, secure and business-friendly environment where enterprises can thrive and investments are protected,” Mutfwang said.
Addressing concerns raised over an ongoing land dispute involving a member of the Igbo community, the governor assured the delegation that justice would be served after the completion of all legal and administrative procedures.
He stressed that his administration would continue to uphold fairness, due process and the rights of every resident regardless of ethnic or religious background.
Mutfwang also announced a financial donation to support the activities of the Igbo community in Plateau State, describing the gesture as an appreciation of the community’s longstanding contributions to the state’s socio-economic development.
The governor further expressed gratitude to the Igbo community for the support it gave him during the 2023 governorship election and reaffirmed his determination to pursue an inclusive style of governance built on peace, equity and equal opportunities.
Earlier, the President-General of Ndigbo in Plateau State, Chief Chidi Onah, commended the governor for his inclusive leadership and commitment to peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in the state.
Onah reaffirmed the loyalty and support of the Igbo community to the Mutfwang administration, pledging continued cooperation in efforts aimed at advancing the development of Plateau State.
Other leaders of the Igbo community also praised the cordial relationship between the state government and the community.
They, however, appealed to the governor to facilitate compensation for a property belonging to one of their members that was acquired by the government in the overriding public interest.
The meeting concluded with both the state government and the Igbo community reaffirming their commitment to strengthening their longstanding partnership in the interest of peace, economic growth and sustainable development across Plateau State.
