Insecurity: We’ve Equipped Sokoto Community Guard Corps – Gov Aliyu

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State said the Community Guard Corps is being equipped to assist in safeguarding rural communities. 

He disclosed this during a thank you visit to Kebbe Local Government Area as part of his tour to four local government areas under Sokoto South Senatorial Zone.

A press statement by his media aide, Abubakar Bawa also disclosed that Governor Aliyu said lack of proper office accommodation that hitherto hindered  the take-off of the corps, especially in the 13 local government areas worst affected by banditry is now over. 

“We have provided the corps with the needed logistics with which to operate  in our local communities, we recently completed office accommodation for the corps,” he added. 

He called on the people to continue to give the corps the needed support so that they can discharge their duties diligently. 

On Kebbe bridge which is on the verge of collapse, the governor ordered its immediate assessment with a view to reconstruct it, so as to save the community from being disconnected from other parts of the state. 

He also said that work on the installation of 250 solar powered street lights is progressing steadily, adding that two jumat mosques will be renovated in addition to the construction of two feeder roads in the area.

While in Tambuwal, Governor Aliyu assured of the completion of Alhasan-Fagga-Bakaya road project awarded at the cost of N2 billion, as well as prison-Yagawal-Na baguda road also awarded to the tune of N2.6 billion. 

The governor also promised to  construct Jega-Samo, Romo-Kaya-Barga and Gudul-Kandamare-Rijiya road projects. 

Also in Shagari Local Government, Aliyu pledged to construct Dandin Mahe-Mabera, Era-Rijiyar Malam and Ginga junction-Horo Birni feeder roads in addition to the renovation of two jumat mosques. 

Earlier in Yabo, the governor assured the people of his administration’s commitment to construct Kilgori-Kwaidaza, Magacci- Ruggar Kizo, as well as Bingaje-Beno feeder roads, as well as the renovation of Yabo Jumat Mosque.

In his remarks, the state leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Aliyu Wamakko commended Governor Aliyu for the various people oriented projects executed across the state. 

He described Aliyu’s one year in office as fruitful, considering the transformation taking place in the areas of road network, water supply, environmental sanitation, education, healthcare delivery, empowerment, as well as promoting religious affairs. 

Also speaking, a former Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Dingyadi appealed to the people to continue to rally round the present administration.

During the visit to Shagari Local Government, former Deputy Governor, Mukhar Shagari  announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress.
