A serious fire outbreak has affected part of Terminal 1 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, resulting in the destruction of various items within the impacted area.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon, with the precise origin and cause of the blaze still under investigation by relevant authorities.
Emergency response teams from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside personnel from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Fire Service, have been actively working to contain and extinguish the flames.
Margaret Adeseye, the Controller-General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, has confirmed that the fire did not result in any loss of life. She assured that all necessary measures are being taken to bring the situation fully under control and prevent further spread.
Airport operations and passenger movement have been affected in the vicinity of Terminal 1, although full details on disruptions to flights or services have not yet been released. Authorities are expected to provide updates as the situation develops and the cause is established.
