FCTA Receives 600 Learning Tablets To Aid 12 Public Schools

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken delivery of 600 learning tablets meant for 12 public schools within the territory.

The tablets which was donated by the MTN Nigeria as part of its corporate social responsibility was aimed at boosting the digital education of students in government secondary schools.

During the handover ceremony in Abuja, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud who was represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Technical Matters, TPI. Michael Bawa described the initiative as a timely and impactful investment in the future of students.

Mahmoud stated that the 600 pieces of learning tablets came at a critical moment as the FCT Administration intensifies efforts to strengthen the educational system and equip students with essential digital tools to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

She expressed sincere appreciation to MTN Nigeria for their commitment to corporate social responsibility and their continued partnership with the government.

The Minister also noted that MTN’s support aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes access to quality education and digital empowerment nationwide.

Mahmoud enjoined both teachers, school administrators and the students to take advantage of the devices by using it for the purpose it was meant for.

In his remarks, the chairman MTN board, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe affirmed that MTN donates learning tablets to Government Secondary Schools to boost digital education across the country.

He emphasized that the distribution of devices reflects the company’s shared commitment to education, innovation, and opportunity for every child, no matter where they live.

Also speaking, the Mandate Secretary FCT Education Secretariat, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, who was represented by the Director Department of Science and Technology, Dr. Kolawole Olabashola commended MTN Nigeria for their commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting educational development in Nigeria.

“This initiative will undoubtedly propel our schools to compete favourably with their global counterparts,” he added.

The benefiting government secondary schools include Government Day Secondary School Dutse-Alhaji, Government Secondary School Mpape, Government Girls Secondary School, Dukpa, Government Secondary School Gwagwalada, Government Science Secondary School Tunga-maje and Government Secondary School Pegi (Abuja @30).

Others include Government Secondary School Kwali, Government Secondary School Airport, Government Secondary School Garki, Government Secondary School, Gosa, Government Secondary School Gwarinpa and Government Day Secondary School Wuse 11.
