Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has commended a member of the House of the Representatives, Rep. Leke Abejide over N710 million grant to 71 communities in Yagbaland.
Fanwo described the gesture as historic and transformational.
The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports that Abejide, a member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, on Wednesday, disbursed N10 million to each of the 71 communities in Yagba land.
The disbursement is aimed at facilitating locally-driven projects.
In a statement on Friday in Lokoja, Fanwo commended Abejide’s commitment to grassroots development, adding the initiative will spark unprecedented development and silence critics.
“Performance has cancelled criticism”, Fanwo said.
He urged communities to utilise funds transparently.
Fanwo also lauded the lawmaker’s security interventions, including logistics and tech tools, describing same as decisive leadership.
“This is how to represent a people; Abejide is thinking development, security and progress.
“He has worked closely with the Kogi State Government, offering the necessary cooperation to secure not only Yagbaland but the entire state.
“When the big masquerade appeared, the game changed.
“Though he is not yet in our party, he did not politicise the welfare and security of his people”, he said
Fanwo urged the people of Yagba to continue to extend support to Abejide, adding that the lawmaker steadily redefines representative democracy.
