Ebonyi Assembly Resolves Community Kingship Rift

From Nwogha Ndubuisi, Abakaliki

Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petition, Justice and Judiciary led by Chikaodili Nomeh has resolved and authenticated the nomination of Chief Jacob Nwakpa as the Eze-elect of Nkomoro autonomous community in Ezza North Local Government Area.

The committee, in a statement signed by the Assembly’s Public Relations Officer, Sylvester Egede and made available to newsmen, appealed to the community to continue to support Governor Francis Nwifuru.

“The committee found out that they were meetings and announcements made on radio and others in respect of the selection and nomination of the traditional ruler.

“The committee equally found out that Nkomoro people in their general meeting held on April 6 had constituted a five-man screening committee headed by Samuel Nwokwu to screen candidates from Oriuzor clan which the zoning arrangement favoured.

“Based on these facts and other submissions before the committee, the committee resolved that Nwakpa should be crowned the traditional ruler of Nkomoro community inline with the report of its zoning and screening committee.

The committee also stated that the  petition written by few individuals challenging the Eze-elect including the nefarious claim that he was not qualified for the position was false.

“It observed that the petition challenging the emergence of Nwakpa lacks merit. The committee unanimously encouraged all the parties to support Governor Nwifuru for more dividends of democracy and development in the community”.
