Don Hails Yusuf’s Resignation From NNPP

Dr. Abubakar Salihu of the Department of Public administration, Bayero University Kano, yesterday, commended Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf for resigning from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.

Salihu told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Kano , yesterday, that the decision was a positive development for the state’s political landscape.

He explained that the decision was one of the best things that had happened to the political growth of the state.

Salihu said if Governor Yusuf aligned with the All Progressives Congress, APC, it would lead to improved access to federally-funded infrastructure projects, stronger bargaining power in budgetary allocations, and strategic appointments for Kano elites within key national institutions.

He said the state would see an increase in state and federal government projects, both within and outside the state, without undue interference from godfathers.

Salihu explained that aligning with the All Progressives Congress, APC, could bring tangible benefits to Kano State, typical of Nigerian federal politics.

According to Salihu, political alignment with the centre had historically translated into accelerated development in many states, citing examples such as road construction, water projects, and expanded security presence.

He said that Yusuf’s move was a pragmatic decision that could maximise both personal influence and perceived state advantage.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the Governor resigned along with 21 members of the State House of Assembly, 8 members of the House of Representatives, and 44 Local Governments’ Chairmen .
