To commemorate his second year in office, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports and Member representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Amadu (popularly known as “Mai Palace”), has launched a wide-ranging empowerment programme focused on the education and transport sectors in Zamfara State.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Hon. Amadu distributed essential educational materials to 50 public schools across Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas. The initiative, aimed at enhancing public education in underserved communities, covered all political wards within the constituency—benefiting 30 secondary schools and 20 primary schools.
Items distributed included:
20,000 boxes of chalk
2,000 school registers
20,000 exercise books
2,000 teacher diaries
200 packs of ballpoint pens
100 plastic chairs
Speaking during the distribution, Hon. Amadu explained that the intervention was designed to reduce the financial burden on schools and provide both students and teachers with essential learning tools. He noted that this forms part of a broader educational strategy, which includes the sponsorship of school fees for indigent students and the construction of additional classrooms to accommodate increasing enrollment.
In a further demonstration of his commitment to grassroots empowerment, Hon. Amadu also presented commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and tricycles (Keke Napep) to members of local transport unions across Gusau and Tsafe. The beneficiaries include operators from taxi, motorcycle (Okada), and tricycle associations—supporting livelihoods and small-scale transport enterprises within the constituency.
“Today’s event reflects our dual commitment to education and economic empowerment,” Hon. Amadu said. “We are laying a solid foundation for sustainable development by investing in our children’s education and supporting transport workers—many of whom are breadwinners in their households.”
While some schools received their materials on-site, the lawmaker confirmed that a designated distribution committee would deliver the remaining items ahead of the next academic session.
Dignitaries present at the occasion included:
Mal. Wadatau Madawaki, Zamfara State Commissioner for Education (represented by Haj. Hauwaa Kulu Ibrahim Na’ala)
; Prof. Nasir Anka, Chairman, UBEC (represented by Madawakin Gusau, Alh. Dahiru Shehu)

Dr. Surajo Abdullahi Shinkafi, Rector, Abdu Gusau Polytechnic
Mal. Zayyanu Isah Gusau, Provost, College of Nursing Sciences, Gusau
