Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has charged the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, on the rehabilitation of dilapidated federal roads in the state.

Governor Buni gave the charge in Damaturu yesterday when the House Committee on FERMA paid him a courtesy visit.

According to him, the bad portion of the roads promotes insecurity, as motorists are forced to slow down, making them easy prey to criminals.

“It has become necessary to fix the roads to improve security across the state,” Buni said.

The governor listed Bara-Gulani, Buni-Bara, Kaliyari-Bayamari and Geidam-Maine Sorowa federal roads among those in need of rehabilitation.

Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee, Aderemi Oseni said the committee was on assessment tour of roads in the region.

He explained that it had taken note of the areas of concern and would work towards their immediate rehabilitation.

He commended Governor Buni for the construction of roads in the state, saying it would boost economic growth.
