Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency, SPHCDA, Nutrition Unit, in collaboration with UNICEF Field Office Sokoto, recently organised a two-day Social and Behavior Change, SBC, Validation Meeting in Kebbi State.
The event was aimed at reviewing and standardizing nutrition documentation, ensuring excellence and effectiveness in the state’s nutrition interventions.
At the event, the commissioner for health emphasized the importance of standardising nutrition materials to maintain Sokoto State’s reputation for excellence.
“The validation exercise aimed to improve the impact of nutrition interventions across the state.
” The event showcased the collaboration between Sokoto State government and UNICEF in promoting nutrition and health initiatives”, averred the Commissioner.
Ibrahim Iya in a statement said the meeting brought together stakeholders to discuss and refine nutrition strategies, ensuring that Sokoto State’s nutrition programs are effective and sustainable. This initiative aligns with global efforts to promote nutrition and health, particularly in underserved communities.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Faruk Umar Wurno, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, urged participants to critically engage with the documents under review. He emphasized the importance of standardizing the materials to ensure Sokoto State’s nutrition documentation remains a model for excellence.
The Director of Community Health, Dr Tukur Magaji, highlighted the significance of the validation exercise in enhancing the impact of nutrition interventions across the state.
Ibrahim Haruna delivered remarks on behalf of the Chief of Party, Mr Michael Juma, from UNICEF. He reiterated UNICEF’s continued commitment to supporting Sokoto State in its nutrition efforts.
Ayo Bami, representing Nutrition International, delivered a goodwill message on behalf of partners, commending the collaboration and encouraging sustained efforts toward improving child nutrition outcomes.
