Police Arrest Bandit Leader, Motorcycle Thieves In Kaduna

Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of a notorious bandit leader known as Mati Bagio, who has been terrorizing Kaduna and Katsina States for over 11 years. 

The suspect, a 34-year-old male from Unguwan Galadima in Shika District, Giwa Local Government Area, was apprehended at his residence on July 18.

The news of the arrest was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.

According to the statement, the police recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the suspect, including, One AK-47 rifle,One fabricated AK-47 rifle, One pump action gun, Two English pistols, Two AK-47 magazines, Two LAR rifle magazines, Four fabricated AK-47 butts, Four AK-47 ammunition rounds, Ten pump action ammunition and Eighty-seven pistol ammunition.

In a separate incident, the police recovered a stolen Toyota Prado Jeep that was snatched at gunpoint in Abuja.

The vehicle was tracked and located near Shema Filling Station in Unguwan Gwari, Kaduna, and recovered after a swift response from the police.

The police also arrested three suspects who specialize in attacking, maiming, or killing cyclists and dispossessing them of their motorcycles. Two stolen motorcycles were recovered from the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the officers for their swift and timely response and urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing credible information to aid in combatting crime within the state.
