2027: Kachikwu Gives Conditions To  Accept  ADC Coalition

By MBACHU GODWIN, Abuja

Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress,  ADC, in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu has given fresh conditions to back the Sen. David Mark-led  interim ADC Coalition.

Kachikwu, who earlier kicked against the new entrants of the party and its new leadership, however, said he was ready to accept the ADC coalition if “only the presidential ticket of the coalition in 2027 will be zoned to the Southern Nigeria”.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja Thursday, Kachikwu alleged that his grouse was that the coalition was preparing the ground for the emergence of a northern candidate to disrupt the eight years  tenure for the South.

Kachikwu said: “I challenge them,  let the coalition today make a pronouncement and be  bold and say that the presidential candidate of the coalition in 2027 will come from the South, then we will welcome them from the front door”.

The former presidential candidate who boasted to fight on until the right thing is done alleged that his life has been threatened since after reacting against the ADC coalition, adding that no  amount of threat would make him back down.

He revealed that he was going to explore the legal option as well as approach the electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare who is the authentic National Chairman of the ADC, as well as determine whether a vacancy exists.

He faulted the issuance of membership cards to the interim National Chairman, Sen. David Mark and National Secretary ex-gov Rauf Aregbesola at the unveiling of the coalition Wednesday, describing the coalition as self serving.
