International Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, Global Initiative For Women In Leadership, GIFWIL, has expressed its commitment to the continuous education, empowerment, as well as physical and psychological wellness of individuals and families across Nigeria.

Founder of the organisation, Lady Sarah Umahi disclosed this on Thursday during a Badminton Fitness for Good Health Tournament in Abuja.

According to Lady Umahi, one of the most impactful moments of the event was during a mental health session led by Dr James Iwowarri, who reminded everyone that health is not just physical, but also mental and emotional.

In his engaging talk, Dr Iwowarri addressed issues of stress, anxiety, burnout and the importance of regular exercise in maintaining emotional balance.
“His message strongly resonated with participants, especially given the increasing pressure of daily life,” Umahi said.

She noted that through initiatives like the tournament, GIFWIL had continued to promote not only education and empowerment, but also the physical and psychological wellness of individuals and families across Nigeria.

“The success of this event reinforces our belief that health-focused outreach can be fun, inclusive and deeply impactful. From warm-up routines to high-fives at the final match, the day was filled with energy, laughter and a shared commitment to living better.

“As we look ahead, GIFWIL remains dedicated to organising more events that inspire healthy lifestyles, strengthen community bonds and offer safe spaces for important conversations,” she said
