2025 CAVB Beach Volleyball: NVF to Honour First Lady On Thursday as Team Nigeria Soar

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVF) has revealed  that the Federation will on Friday honour the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in recognition of her unwavering support for youth and sports development. 

This comes as Team Nigeria continues to excel at the ongoing 2025 CAVB U-18 Beach Volleyball Continental Cup with an impressive performances of Nigeria’s male and female teams. 

The tournament, hosted in Nigeria, will conclude on Thursday where Gambia will face Congo in the final , while Nigeria will play Nigeria team B in the third-place match. 

In the female category, Nigeria will contest the final against Nigeria’s Team B, with Egypt set to battle Congo for bronze.

With this result, Nigeria’s  female team have already clinched gold and silver medals, while the male team 1 and Nigeria Team B will compete for bronze after narrowly missing out on the final even before final Match.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday at Jabi Lake in Abuja, NVF President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, commended the dedication and resilience of the young athletes, describing their progress as “a testament to Nigeria’s growing dominance in African volleyball.”

He said: “Our teams have shown remarkable discipline, strength, and patriotism. These results are not by chance  they are the outcome of years of planning, investment, and unwavering support from key stakeholders, most especially the First Lady Senator Tinubu, in conjuction with Renewed Hope Initiative that is continues to inspire young people across the nation.”

Engineer Nimrod revealed that the Federation will honour First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu on Final day  for her support on Sports at grassroots and education at all level.

According to him, the First Lady’s initiatives have significantly boosted female participation in volleyball and other sports nationwide.

“That is why we made her our Patron. She has become a beacon of encouragement for our young girls and boys. This honour is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for believing in the potential of Nigerian youth,” he added.

The 2025 CAVB U-18 Beach Volleyball Continental Cup features 16 teams from 12 African countries, competing for continental honours and qualification spots for upcoming international youth tournaments
