Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike has threatened to sack the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Yohana Dauda over the ways and manner he handle N1. 3billion meant for payment of compensation to victims of demolition in Gishiri Village.

Wike stated this on Monday in Abuja while responding to the allegation raised by some key stakeholders and delegation of Gishiri community’s leaders who paid him a visit.

The Minister who was visibly shocked to hear the allegation made against the Executive Secretary by his visitors over the alleged shady deals in connection with the payment of compensation to the victims ordered him to pay them what he approved or get sacked.

Recall that about 455 people both indigenes and non indigenes who were affected by the ongoing road construction in Gishiri community had their homes pulled down last week.

Wike who said he has approved the sum of N1.3 billion for the compensation of the victims, became enraged when he heard that the ES in collaboration with the department of Compensation and Relocation was offering the victims far below what the Minister approved.

Wike said he is annoyed hearing about the shady deals because the ES who is an indigene of Abuja has betrayed the trust reposed on him by his people and government.

Trouble started for the embattled ES when the youth leader of Gishiri community, Umaru Godwin accused him of changing the Minister’s instructions concerning their relocation.

Godwin said that the ES without recourse to the Minister’s directives has proposed a water logged environment, where the victims of the demolition will not be able to build any structure.

More trouble came for the embattled ES, when another community member, Princess Juliet Jonah alleged that the victims were protesting because they were offered N72, 000 per building.
