Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, has resigned from office as President Volodymyr Zelensky moves ahead with a broad government reshuffle aimed at repositioning the country’s leadership.
Svyrydenko officially stepped down on Tuesday, with her resignation forming part of a wider restructuring of the Ukrainian government ordered by President Zelensky.
The Ukrainian parliament subsequently voted to approve her resignation during a plenary session held on Tuesday, formally ending her tenure as prime minister.
Although the president confirmed that changes were underway within his administration, he has yet to announce who will succeed Svyrydenko as the country’s next prime minister.
Speaking on the ongoing reorganisation, Zelensky explained that Ukraine was adjusting its governance approach to respond to evolving national priorities.
According to the president, the country is “changing its political strategy” to address “new challenges and new tasks.”
While details of the reshuffle have not been fully disclosed, the move is widely viewed as part of efforts to strengthen the government’s capacity as Ukraine continues to confront political, economic and security pressures.
The resignation marks a significant development in the country’s leadership, coming at a time when Ukraine is navigating complex domestic reforms alongside the ongoing effects of the war with Russia.
Attention is now focused on President Zelensky’s next appointment, with political observers expecting the presidency to unveil a replacement in the coming days as part of the broader cabinet restructuring.
The government reshuffle is expected to reshape key ministries and redefine policy priorities as the administration seeks to respond to emerging national and international developments.
