A tragic accident occurred Monday afternoon on the Udu Bridge in Delta State, where a trailer fallen, reportedly and killing at least six people on the spot.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying, with bodies crushed under the weight of the overturned vehicle. The incident has thrown the Udu community into mourning, with residents calling for urgent government intervention to prevent future occurrences.
Residents of Udu community have ruched to the accident, trying to recover bodies and clear the wreckage. Local authorities have advised commuters to avoid the Udu Bridge area for now, as rescue operations and investigations continue.
“The trailer just fell suddenly everything happened so fast. It was a terrible sight,” a witness said.
Residents and motorists have raised concerns over the condition of vehicles transporting heavy goods and the safety of the Udu Bridge itself.
“This is not the first time we are witnessing such horror on this route. Something must be done now,” a resident told our reporter. Calls are mounting for the Delta State Government to inspect and regulate heavy-duty vehicles to avert further loss of lives.
