First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu says Nigeria is going through a lot of positive transformations that will help the youths to thrive.
Mrs Tinubu said this while receiving a team of the United Nation’s Representative, led by the outgoing UNICEF Country Representative, Cristian Munduate
The News Agency of Nigeria ,NAN, reports Munduate was accompanied by her husband Mr Paul Martin, UNICEF Chief Child Protection, Ibrahim Sessy and UNICEF’s Deputy Representative, Dr Rownak Khan.
The First Lady said the President Bola Tinubu’s administration acknowledged the children and youth as the hope of the nation and urged parents to help in building their careers and talents
She further advised parents to portray themselves as good examples, by leading the youths properly, irrespective of their high education, qualifications and exposures.
“When you see talents, you have to keep encouraging them, Nigeria is a fertile ground for talented youths and our children are resilient and strong.
“We have left the youths on their own for too long, but when you engage them, you will see how ready they are.
“Therefore, the parents have to keep engaging them”, she said.
The First Lady thanked the outgoing UNICEF country representative for her recent visit to Benue State.
She disclosed that plans are underway for her to visit the people of Benue and Niger States to encourage and empower them.
Mrs Tinubu described Munduate as a unique person with a source of encouragement.
She said she has been encouraged by UNICEF to carry out some of the Renewed Hope Initiative programmes including, the Child’s Birth Registration.
“It is heartbroken that you are leaving now, and I see your passion for this nation, it is quite infectious”, she said
Earlier, Munduate commended President Tinubu and the first lady for their impactful support for children across the nation.
She specifically thanked them for the supports towards, child genital mutilation eradication, child labour eradication, child marriage protection, education promotion and other notable activities by the government.
