Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that states are receiving more funds for capital projects under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Wike, who spoke yesterday during the commissioning of the 15.13km Ikot Otomo-Azumini road in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, said his participation in Tinubu’s government was driven by passion for national development rather than partisan politics.
“The leadership of the present government has made money available for states to carry out development. I am not here for party politics; I am here for development,” Wike said.
The FCT minister noted that his appointment by President Tinubu despite his membership of another political party underscored his commitment to inclusiveness and competence.
“Mr President found me worthy to be made minister of the Federal Capital Territory. That is the mark of a leader who means well for Nigeria,” he stated.
Highlighting his achievements in Abuja, Wike said the FCT had witnessed rapid transformation under Tinubu’s leadership, proving that politics should not stand in the way of progress. “When people ask me, which party do you belong to? I ask them, which party is doing the roads in FCT? The truth is, Nigerians want results, not excuses,” he said.
He commended Governor Umo Eno for forging a strong partnership with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, stressing that such cooperation would attract more federal presence and infrastructure to Akwa Ibom. According to him, unity among leaders is the foundation of meaningful development.
In his speech, Governor Eno commended Wike for his outstanding work in the FCT and his readiness to support development efforts across Nigeria. He described the minister’s visit to Akwa Ibom as a sign that unity can transcend political affiliations.
The governor revealed that over 3.5km of the road lies within Abia State, just as he thanked the Abia State governor for his cooperation.
“This is united progress. When leaders work together, the people are the ultimate beneficiaries,” he remarked.
Eno assured Akwa Ibom residents that his government would continue to complete inherited projects, while initiating new ones, made possible by improved federal funding under President Tinubu.
