An Abuja-based football administrator and owner of Water FC Academy, Makanjuola Nureni Mualá, has been honoured with the Distinguished Service Award for his Outstanding Support to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and Remarkable Contributions to Sports Development in Nigeria.

Mr. Makanjuola was among the distinguished personalities who received awards at the SWAN @60 Anniversary Celebration, held on Friday at the VIP Lounge of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The event, which marked six decades of SWAN’s impact on sports journalism and development in Nigeria, celebrated individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth of sports across the nation.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mualá expressed gratitude and excitement over the recognition.

> “I feel happy and fulfilled because we have been contributing to sports development for decades without much recognition. I thank God that SWAN appreciates people’s efforts. It feels good to finally be recognized,” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of the honour, Mualá noted that the award would further inspire him to continue supporting youth and sports initiatives across Nigeria.

> “We have always done our best to promote sports in this country. Now that we are being recognized, it gives me renewed hope and motivation to do even more. This award is a great source of encouragement for me and my supporters to keep pushing for the growth of sports and the empowerment of young talents in Nigeria,” he added
