Rotary Club Plants Trees, Gives Mothers, Children Mental Health Support In FCT

The Rotary Club of Abuja Asokoro Diamond has reaffirmed its commitment to community service by executing a 3-in-1 humanitarian project in Dei-Dei, FCT.

The interventions focused on Tree Planting, Maternal and Child Health, Mental Health, and Wellbeing Awareness, impacting hundreds of residents, especially women and children.

Speaking during the exercise, the President of the Club, Rotarian Hansel Ugo Chigborogu, who was represented by the Past Assistant Governor, Rotarian Adeleke Stephen Adedapo, said the exercise featured a tree planting campaign aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, as well as sensitisation programs on maternal and child health, antenatal and postnatal care, exclusive breastfeeding, and early vaccination of children.

According to him, the highlight of the event was the distribution of essential items including mosquito nets, delivery kits, sanitary pads, diapers, liquid soap, bleach, and dewormers for children—all geared towards improving health and hygiene among vulnerable families.

In the same vein, the Club Secretary, Rotarian Prince Yusuf Olubunmi Odunsi, highlighted the importance of collaboration and consistency in humanitarian service.

“Today’s outreach demonstrates the power of collective action. By coming together, we are not only meeting immediate needs but also creating long-term impact. Our commitment is to sustain these interventions and continue to serve humanity,” he said.

On her part, the Project Service Director, Rotarian Adeleke Shola Ayanronke, noted that the Rotary Club of Abuja Asokoro Diamond has continued to strengthen its role as a beacon of hope and service in the Federal Capital Territory.

“This 3-in-1 project aligns with Rotary International’s focus areas by addressing environmental protection, maternal and child health, and mental wellbeing. We are determined to touch lives positively and provide sustainable solutions to pressing community needs,” she added.

Residents of Dei-Dei community expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for the life-changing initiative, pledging to put the knowledge and resources received into good use.
