Reps Hail Clerk, Danzaria On Retirement

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, alongside  other lawmakers have commended the outgoing Clerk to the House of Representatives, Yahaya Danzaria for his impactful years of dedicated service and contributions to the growth of the legislature. 

Accolades poured in for the former clerk yesterday during a valedictory session held in his honor during plenary at the National Assembly Complex, even as lawmakers took turns to commend  him for his professionalism, open-minded disposition, liberal disposition and  commitment to duties  throughout his career in the civil service.

The speaker explained that  the House gathered not only to mark the passage of time, but to respect  a career devoted to the stability and integrity along with continuity of parliamentary democracy.

He described the occasion as a celebration of Danzaria’s life and tenure as Clerk of the House.

He informed that in every democratic legislature, elected authority must operate within a durable institutional framework sustained by procedure, due process and seasoned professional administration.

According to the speaker, the office of the clerk lies at the heart of this responsibility, providing continuity beyond electoral cycles, as well as safeguarding the legitimacy of parliamentary decisions.

Speaker Abbas also noted that Danzaria served in the sensitive position with “clarity, discipline and restraint.”

It was gathered that the outgoing clerk had positively impacted his career in the National Assembly, stressing that his contributions reflected steady progress built on competence and continuous learning.

Abbas also described him as a professional who understood the functional importance of parliamentary procedure in protecting minority rights, as well as preserving orderliness.

The speaker highlighted Danzaria’s academic and professional background, noting that his training in law, combined with grounding in public administration and policy analysis, brought legal precision and administrative insight to parliamentary work during his time. 

It was gathered that among the notable institutional contributions of the former clerck  was his role in supporting the formulation and implementation of the Legislative Agenda of the 10th House, as well as his involvement in the revision of the House Standing Orders and improvements in plenary administration.

Many lawmakers who spoke during the special event disclosed that the outgoing clerk  was known for his calm temperament, humility along with ability to manage relationships without conflict.

Sidi Ibrahim is now the House Clerk in acting capacity.
