President Bola Tinubu did not embark on his presidential campaign with lofty slogans, but presented to Nigerians, an eight-point Renewed Hope Agenda as economic revitalisation.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris stated this in Minna, Niger State, at the quarterly meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum with commissioners of information of All Progressives Congress, APC, states held in Minna.

The purpose of the conference reflects the recognition of a shared responsibility of effectively communicating the achievements and promises of our Renewed Hope Agenda to every citizen in every community across the country.

According to the minister, the agenda is steadily being implemented across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, with discipline, prudence, fortitude and a deep commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.

Idris disclosed that the forum is timely, commendable and crucial to the mission of amplifying the great work by the APC-led administration at the federal and sub-national levels.

He acknowledged that one of the boldest and most consequential decisions of this administration, which is the removal of fuel subsidy was painful, but a necessary reform which saved the economy from fiscal collapse. This decision has significantly blocked areas of leakage and waste in our economy, thereby leading to increase in funding for the development of mega infrastructure.

The minister pointed out that  such projects include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Calabar-Abuja Super Highway, Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, among others.

“We are also witnessing steady investment in the provision of social services and increase in monthly allocations to state governments, which is enabling them to embark on projects that are already having transformative impact across sectors”.

The Renewed Hope Agenda goes beyond macroeconomic reforms. It is about creating concrete opportunities for prosperity across sectors – for individuals, families and communities.

“Let me draw your attention to some of the flagship initiatives of the Tinubu’s administration, adding that over 900,000 Nigerians have already benefited from the Presidential Conditional Grant and Loan Scheme, support for small businesses, traders, artisans and young entrepreneurs.

“Over 300,000 students are currently benefiting from the unprecedented Students Loan Scheme, ensuring that no young Nigerian is denied access to higher education because of lack of funds.”

In his address the Secretary to Niger State Government, SSG, Alhaji Abubakar Gawu, who represented Governor Umar Bago said progressive governors are not only united and strong, but are delivering results that are measurable.

“Here in Niger State, we are building “a New Niger, a vision driven by bold reforms in agriculture, digitisation, urban renewal and youth empowerment”.

Also the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hajiya Binta Manma said the theme of the meeting: “Strategic Communication and Policy Alignment” is timely and critical as we navigate an era that demands clarity of purpose.
