Real Madrid will travel to Austria for a preseason friendly against WSG Tirol on Tuesday, August 12, the club announced on Friday.
The match will take place at the Tivoli Stadion in Innsbruck, a 17,000-capacity venue, and is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. CEST.
Madrid’s preseason has been shortened this year due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, where they were eliminated in the semifinals with a 4–0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on July 9 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
With players legally entitled to three weeks of rest and LaLiga set to kick off on August 19, there was little room for a traditional international tour.
In light of the tight schedule, Real Madrid requested a postponement of their opening LaLiga fixture — a home match against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu — but the request was rejected by a Spanish football federation judge on Thursday.
As a result, the match against WSG Tirol will serve as Madrid’s only formal warm-up ahead of the 2024–25 domestic campaign.
