Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, Anambra State chapter, has advised members of the public to ignore a list of members of a purported caretaker committee in the state.
Dr Obumneme Nnoli, the Publicity Secretary of the party in Anambra, issued the disclaimer in a statement entitled “Official Response to the Fake and Illegal Caretaker Committee List Circulated by Expelled Party Officials” in Awka yesterday.
Nnoli said the letter was fraudulent, baseless, and constitutionally empty as the former organising Secretary who signed it and the bearer had long been expelled from the PDP for their alleged indiscipline, dishonesty, and sabotage of the party.
According to the statement, the Dr Chidi Chidebe’s led executive remained the authentic, legally recognised, and constitutionally valid leadership of the PDP in Anambra State until November 2028.
“And no concocted list could override the decision of the National Working Committee.
“For clarity, the two of them have zero locus standi, zero authority, and zero recognition in the PDP.
“Their desperation is the last kick of drowning political contractors seeking survival.
“It is important to inform the general public and our party faithful that the so-called Caretaker Committee list they are circulating is a complete fabrication.
“Many of the names listed are not PDP members, several individuals do not exist in any ward register, others are strangers with no political identity in Anambra PDP and some names were manufactured from thin air to create the illusion of legitimacy”, he said.
The party said it was embarrassing that an expelled former officer was still forging documents to deceive the public while someone whose activities earned him total expulsion could parade himself as a party officer.
The party warned those whose names appeared on the ‘fake list’ to disclaim it and not allow themselves to be used by expelled saboteurs and political traders who want to create confusion in Anambra.
“Any attempt to parade yourselves as caretaker members will attract consequences, including legal action, severe disciplinary consequences, possible prosecution for impersonation and conspiracy.
“We urge all genuine PDP members to remain calm, resolute, vigilant and void any meetings, engagements, with the fabricated committee.
“The Anambra State PDP will defend its mandate with every legal instrument available, we will not bow to impostors or allow external sponsors to destroy what we have built”, it said.
In a reaction, Casmir Ajulu, the leader of the contested caretaker committee said he would not join issues with anyone or speak on the matter.
