Oyo State government has handed over six Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs, that it refurbished to the State Police Command.
The Deputy Governor, Mr Bayo Lawal, handed over the vehicles to the Commissioner of Police, CP, Johnson Adenola, on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan, Wednesday.
Lawal, who restated the commitment of Makinde’s administration to the security of lives and property, said the refurbished APCs would go a long way in enhancing police operations.
According to him, Oyo is one of the few states in Nigeria that is really paying attention to security issues, thus charging the police to keep up with the commitment.
In his remarks, the CP appreciated the Makinde-led administration for assisting police operations in the command with vehicles and other logistics.
Adenola, confirmed that the state government had allocated a lot of funds to security.
He, therefore, assured residents of the state that police operatives would enhance their operations to improve state security. NAN
