Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday disociated itself from the ongoing registration exercise organised by the Omoluabi group led by the former governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
According to the Osun APC during a press briefing shortly after the stakeholders meeting at the party Secretariat in Osogbo addressed by the State Chairman and Secretary, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal and Hon Kamoru Alao, “registration of our party, APC will start today (Wednesday) when the National Chairman of the party will inaugurate the committee that will train the trainers at the local levels.
“The one we are referring to is the one been organised by the Omoluabi group been led by former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, we are discouraging our members who are loyal party APC member to not go there to register because Omoluabi as a group is not a member of our party in Osun State.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the inauguration of the train the trainers and workshop for the electronic membership registration will hold today in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as announced by the National Chairman of our party, Dr Abdulhai Ganduje, therefore, any ongoing or previous registration in recent time is unknown to any party organs. This clarification is very important as a result of speculations and intentions of some marauders to mislead unsuspecting members of the party.
“Rauf Aregbesola in as far as we are concerned in Osun APC, we have been saying it severally that he is no more member of APC in Osun State.
“We have taken steps three times to notify the national secretariat that Aregbesola is giving us distractions in APC affairs in the state and then the party at the national should do the needful in dealing with him. He is a national figure, we know. But if we can not handle his case in this state, we have refer his matter to national secretariat and I know, soonest that they are going to act on it”.
The meeting commended the leadership of the State Executive Committee under the chairmanship of Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal for the efficient management of the party and at the same time, acknowledged the resilience, loyalty and commitment of the party members across the state especially in this trying period as an opposition in the state.
