The Ogun State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on crime, arresting a father and his son alongside three other suspects in separate operations across the state.

Police also recovered four firearms and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000 during the intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives attached to the Afon, Ilisan Remo and Ode Remo divisions.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operations led to the recovery of one locally made pistol, one fabricated pistol, two dane guns, one live cartridge, and the stolen mobile phone.

In one of the operations, officers of the Afon Division arrested a father and son identified as Fatai Adegbola and Waliu Adegbola, 23, following a reported case of theft received on May 22, 2026.

The younger Adegbola was accused of stealing a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8, prompting further investigation.

Acting on intelligence, police tracked and recovered the stolen phone, which later led to a search of the suspects’ residence under a valid warrant, where a locally made pistol and a dane gun were allegedly discovered concealed within the premises.

Both suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to determine their level of involvement and possible accomplices.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026.

The item was reportedly found abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team before being deposited in the division’s armoury for safekeeping pending further investigation.

Similarly, officers of the Ode Remo Division arrested one Inioluwa Adesanya, 25, over the alleged theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident in the area.

Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly posed as a carpenter’s assistant working on renovation in order to gain access to the victim’s residence.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and also admitted involvement in a cult group known as the Aye confraternity.

Police say all recovered weapons have been secured as exhibits, while the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-driven operations against violent crime, cultism, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
