Former Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Adesegun Adekoya, has been conferred with the prestigious title of Aare Musulimi (Leader) of Ibipe Land, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
In a letter dated July 10, Ibipe Muslim Community said they arrived at the decision to confer the title on Adekoya after several meetings of Muslims in Ibipe quarters.
The appointment letter which was signed by the Chairman of Chieftaincy Committee, Bakare Olutade, Secretary of the committee, Alfa Alowolodu Sunmola and the Chairman of Ibipe Mustin Community, Alhaji Abdulfatai Igunlana, lauded Adekoya’s contributions to the growth of the community and prayed for Allah’s guidance upon him “at all times on every step taken to promote Islam.”
Adekoya is reported to have financed and facilitated several developmental projects in Ogun State before, during and after his tenure in the National Assembly.
Part of the letter of notification reads: “In the name of Almighty Allah the Beneficent and the Merciful, the first and the last, worthy to be praised and blessings of Allah be upon the noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his household and followers till the day of resurrection.
“At the conclusion of several meetings of Muslims in Ibipe quarters, the entire members of the above named Muslim community have unanimously agreed to offer you the chieftaincy title of Aare Musulumi of Ibipe Land, Ago-Iwoye.
“By the grace of Almighty Allah, we believe that your relentless efforts to the development of Islam will increase and solidify your forefathers contributions.
“We are looking forward for an acceptance Ietter showing your interest and we wish you Allah’s guidance at all times in every step taken to promote Islam. Amin.”
Recently, a graduate of medicine from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, Dr Ogunmakinju Oluwaseun, in an open letter, expressed touching appreciation to Adekoya for the full sponsorship of his university education.
The former deputy minority leader is the founder of Prince Abdel-Majid Foundation (PAM Foundation), a non-governmental organisation engaged in uplifting Nigerians, especially the less privileged, children, youths and women.
