Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has commiserated with the families of the victims of the fire caused by a tanker which razed some buildings and claimed four lives in Agbor metropolis.

Governor Oborevwori mandated his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, to lead top government functionaries to visit the families of the victims and inspect the level of damage.

The governor, in a video call  to the husband of one of the victims, urged them to take heart and believe that God alone knew why it happened.

Onyeme, had in an interview with journalists during the visit, said the state government was touched by the unfortunate incident and assured of support for the victims.

“What happened was an unfortunate accident. Those of us who are alive will do what we can to cushion its effects on the victims and their families.

“It was an unfortunate incident and  Governor Oborevwori asked us to come and see what happened, and commiserate with the families of the victims,” he said

Husband to one of victims, Elder Festus Adomugbor, who was visited by the team, expressed surprise that the state government could act promptly to identify with them.

“I want to appreciate the governor for this prompt action. I know that there is nothing any person can do to bring my wife back to life, but it must be stated  that I never knew that the governor  could send this kind of entourage  to visit my home.

“My heart has been heavy since yesterday; my children are with me and sympathisers are around. I begin to ponder what will happen when these visitations die down,” Adomugbor mourned.
