Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Gombe State Command has arrested a 48-year-old tailor, Ibrahim Haruna, and his 15-year-old son, Abdullahi Ibrahim, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
The suspects, residents of Jekadafari quarters in Gombe Local Government Area, were paraded at the command headquarters on Monday.
Speaking to journalists, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Sa’ad said the father and son allegedly committed the crime separately at different times.
According to Sa’ad, Haruna was accused of luring the girl into his tailoring shop and assaulting her, while his son reportedly carried out the act within their family compound.
He said investigation into the case had been concluded and that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
When confronted by journalists, Haruna denied the allegation, claiming he only touched the girl in a playful manner and did not commit rape.
NSCDC stressed that the victim’s identity would not be disclosed in order to protect her privacy, in line with child protection protocols.
