NASS Shifts Resumption Date To October 7

The two Chambers of the National Assembly, which include the Senate and the House of Representatives have postponed their resumption of plenary sessions by two weeks, moving the date from Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, and circulated to all lawmakers in Abuja Tuesday.

The statement read in parts: “With deep regrets, Honourable Members are hereby informed that the resumption of plenary sessions earlier scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, has been rescheduled.

“The new date of resumption is Tuesday, October 7, 2025,”

The Clerk further urged members to take note of the change and adjust their schedules accordingly.

In the statement, No official reason was given for the postponement.

The resumption had been keenly anticipated, as lawmakers are expected to deliberate on several pressing national issues, including the implementation of the 2025 budget, ongoing National Hearing on Constitutional Review as well as reforms in key sectors, and matters of public accountability.
