Nasarawa: SUBEB Revokes 9 Contracts, Suspends 2 Over Shoddy Jobs

Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has revoked nine contracts and suspended two contracts over shoddy jobs.

Its Executive Chairman, Dr Kassim Kassim disclosed this Tuesday when he led other management team of the board on a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, in Lafia.

Dr Kassim, who said the contracts were revoked and suspended over poor quality of work, added that the visit was to condole the speaker over the death of his younger sister.

He said the visit was also meant to appreciate him for the role he played during their screening and confirmation.

“We are here to register our loyalty and to say thank you for our screening and confirmation as chairman and members of the board.

“Mr Speaker, we want to disclose here that we have revoked nine contracts and suspended two contractors over poor standard,” he said

Kassim also decried the proliferation of private schools in the state, while calling for synergy to tackle illegal establishment of private schools. 

In response, Speaker Jatau appreciated the SUBEB chairman and his management team for the visit and for condoling him over the death of his sister.

He also commended the board chairman for hitting the ground running for improved standard of education.

“I am happy and I want to commend you on the positive steps you have taken towards reviving primary education in the state,” he said.

Jatau also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his passion in the education sector, just as he assured of his support to enable them succeed.
