Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has commended Sheikh Dahiru Usman Foundation for selecting the state to host the 1447 AH annual Maulud.
Buni made the commendation at the weekend during the closing ceremony of the three-day Maulud event.
The event, known as “Makon Shehu,” which took place at the Art and Cultural Centre in Damaturu, featured lectures and prayers.
The three-day annual Maulud was organised by Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation. Featuring lectures and prayers, it brought together participants from within and outside the country.
At the closing ceremony, Governor Buni, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for selecting the state to host the event.
According to him, Maulud aims to encourage Muslims to attain spiritual excellence and moral uprightness by emulating the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Buni stated that his administration cherishes values such as religious education, peace and unity, which are in tandem with the Foundation’s objectives.
According to him the state government produced and distributed a hand-written Warsh version of the Holy Qur’an.
He also noted that the state hosted the 2023 National Qur’an Recitation Competition, which received commendations from the National Organising Committee.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi, said the foundation was in the state for the Maulud anniversary of Sheikh Ahmadu Tijjani.
He appreciated Yobe State for supporting the programme and prayed for Yobe, Nigeria and the world as a whole.
The event also featured supplications, prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran and Qasida, among other presentations.
