Jigawa State government has declared today a work-free day to commemorate the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1447 AH.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists yesterday in Dutse by the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri.
Dagaceri said the holiday would allow residents to participate in the Islamic New Year celebration.
He urged the people to use the occasion to offer prayers for sustained peace and prosperity in the state and country at large.
The head of service admonished the Muslim faithful to reflect deeply on the new year celebration and live in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
He appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and refrain from actions that could disrupt peace and harmony in the state.
Similarly, Kebbi State government has declared today a work-free day to commemorate the Islamic New Year 1447.
This was contained in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi yesterday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment, Pension and Training, Malami Maiyama.
“This is to enable public servants celebrate the commencement of the Islamic New Year of 1447.
“However, normal work will resume on Monday, June 30. All workers are to ensure compliance,” he said.
