From ONYEKACHUKWU MELUWA, WARRI

Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, FUPRE, Delta State, Professor E.O Agbalagba has raised alarm over the alleged security threat targeting the university.

In an internal and external memo dated July 21 and addressed to all staff and students, Professor Agbalagba cautioned that the management of the institution would not sit idly and watch any individual or group attempt to disrupt what he described as one of the most outstanding achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the uninterrupted academic calendar in universities.

“The Federal University of Petroleum Resources is a legal entity of government and it is governed by Act, law and regulations.

“Thus, any staff or student who partakes in any act that will cause the breach of peace of the university community should be informed that there are consequences for every action that contravenes the university’s rules and regulations. Management will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the laws. So, be warned,” he noted.

The memo was copied to key security and government officials, including the governor of Delta State, commissioner of police, executive chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council and heads of the Department of State Services, DSS, police and Operation Delta Sweep.
