A private firm operating under the National Rapid Economic Development Project has unveiled plans to generate employment for more than 2.3 million Nigerians in 2026, describing the initiative as one of the most ambitious private-sector job creation programmes in recent years.
The firm, Education Future Advancement Concept and Skills Limited, EDUFACS, disclosed this at a press briefing held in Abuja on Monday, where it presented a comprehensive employment strategy spanning education, agriculture, tourism, sports and skills development.
Speaking at the briefing, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Comrade Kareem Omobolaji Aderemi, said the initiative is aimed at supporting national economic recovery, reducing unemployment and providing sustainable livelihoods for millions of qualified Nigerians across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
According to Aderemi, the proposed engagements will cut across diverse sectors of human endeavour, including Seed and Seedling Programmes, Fitness Games, Tourism and Hospitality, vocational services and community-based development initiatives designed to stimulate grassroots economic activities.
He further revealed that EDUFACS has concluded foundational strategies to recruit more than 2.3 million Nigerians during the 2026 service year, explaining that beneficiaries would be deployed into structured programmes focused on productivity, innovation and local value creation.
As part of its education-centred intervention, the firm also proposed the recruitment of 65,000 teachers across the states of the federation. The move, he said, is intended to improve learning outcomes, reduce classroom overcrowding and address the shortage of qualified teachers, particularly in underserved communities.
Aderemi explained that the teachers’ recruitment scheme is designed to complement ongoing government efforts to revitalise the education sector, while also providing decent employment opportunities for trained but unemployed graduates nationwide.
He noted that EDUFACS has undergone several years of institutional development, capacity building and programme refinement to ensure that its initiatives are scalable, transparent and aligned with national development priorities.
The EDUFACS boss further assured that the project would promote inclusive growth by prioritising youths, women and people in rural areas, adding that partnerships with state governments, community leaders and private investors are being explored to facilitate seamless implementation.
Reaffirming the firm’s commitment to making a meaningful contribution to both national and sub-national economies, Aderemi stressed that sustained job creation remains critical to addressing poverty, insecurity and social dislocation in the country.
He therefore called on relevant stakeholders to support the initiative, expressing confidence that, if fully implemented, the programme would significantly enhance employment opportunities, skills acquisition and economic resilience across Nigeria.
