With the inauguration of a Vetting Committee saddle with the responsibility of carrying out thorough verification on the sales of Federal Government houses and Titling of designated park plots within the nation’s capital, FCT Administration appears to have commence a move aimed at addressing what it called serious irregularities and infractions associated with the exercise.

Indication to this emerged during the inauguration of a Vetting Committee by the Director of Land, FCTA, Chijioke Nwankwoeze in Abuja, saying the inauguration was in line with the directives of the FCT Minister, Barr, Nyesom Wike.

Shedding light on the anomalies discovered, Nwankwoeze disclosed that issues such as deviation from approval mandate, improper verification, late payments, inadequate documentations, poor interdepartmental coordination and other specific infractions formed part of irregularities.

He said the Minister had given the Committee a clear directives on mandates, and terms of reference to ensure that all processes are completed within a reasonable time frame.

Nwankwoeze, further added that the vetting team on sales of Federal Government houses is expected to restore order, accountability, and transparency in line with the original 2003–2005 monetization and sales policy framework of the Federal Government.

He also disclosed that the vetting team on titling of designated park plots is to align the activities of the Department of Parks and Recreation with the current land reform policies of the FCT Administration.

According to the Director, the setting up of the vetting committees, was a bold and irreversible step toward restoring sanity and public trust in the FCTA.

He emphasized that the government has deployed machinery to put to rest all lingering issues surrounding the sales of Federal Governments houses and designated park plots in the territory.

He expressed confidence the constituted committees will ensure sanitation in the system and restore public confidence.

“This is because the FCT Minister has the ‘political will’ to drive it to a logical conclusion, and this forms part of the aspirations of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, he stressed.
