The natives of FCT under the auspices of Abuja Original Inhabitant Youths and Empowerment Organization AOIYEO have called Barrister Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister to ensure that the proposed distribution of cars and other items to the people of Abuja coming up next tomorrow Thursday should be done equitably among the real indigenous people.

The president of the organization, commandant Isaac David said this in a release made available to the journalists that, “this call is very expedient to avoid lopsidedness in the distribution of the empowerment materials.”

He continued that the organization would not hesitate to go on the street if outsiders who are neither indigenes nor residents of FCT benefiting from this in the name of political patronage, “We know ourselves, we know our people and our people know us, so it will be counter-productive if the lists of the beneficiaries are populated by the foreigners and I think we will not have any other options than to protest against this marginalization.”

Meanwhile, Isaac advised the minister to first of all call for the meeting of all the youth organizations in FCT to know who are the real indigenes and the residents and also to fine-tune the process of the programme otherwise the empowerment may not achieve the main purpose of it.

“I will like to draw attention of our minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike to the exigency of the meeting of all the youth groups, and 6 area Council chairmen in FCT because this will go a long way to determine the real people of FCT, besides it will create a sense of belonging among these youth organizations.”

He therefore added that the approval of N10b empowerment for the FCT youth by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be on paper. “We want reality of this programme to be within the confine of transparency and accountability. Therefore we appeal that all the FCT youth should be captured in it.”
