Constitution Review: Senate Set To Hold N’West Public Hearing

Senate has fixed July 18 and 19 for a public hearing on constitution review after it postponed the exercise to honour late elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who died on June 28 at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, who presided over plenary, made the announcement in Abuja, Thursday.

Zonal public hearings for the exercise were held earlier in July in five out of the six geopolitical zones.

Barau urged all senators across the 21 senatorial districts in the zone to attend the zonal public hearing and facilitate the attendance of their constituents during the exercise.

“I urge all senators from the zone to facilitate the attendance of people for input into the very important exercise,” he said.

Barau, who chairs the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, also urged all concerned Nigerians in the zone to come up with their memoranda on areas of amendments that they want in the constitution.
