One Chukwuebuka Ayigbo yesterday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly defrauding a customer of N12.6 million.
Ayigbo, a 41-year-old businessman residing at Salvation Estate, Ajah, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of obtaining money by false pretext, stealing and fraud, charges he pleaded not guilty to.
The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 13, 2025, at Aiyeleru Street, Ijegun, Lagos.
Ademigbuji said the defendant collected N12.6 million from the complainant, Mr Mordecai Ngwu Chigozie, for a Lexus 350 car, which he failed to deliver.
He said all efforts made by the complainant to get back his money or the car from the defendant failed.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 314 and 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The chief magistrate, Mrs Omolara Kushanu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until April 30, for mention.
