Benue Gov’t will Use Football as Tool for Youth Empowerment, Sustainable Development – Ikya

The Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi,Terver Ikya, has reaffirmed his commitment to discovering and developing exceptional football talents in Benue State.

Ikya who made the commitment while Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Alia/Unongo Zone A Unity Football Competition in Katsina-Ala, in a statement by the Director of Media , Emmanuel Uja yesterday in Makurdi,emphasized that his administration is dedicated to using football as a tool for youth empowerment and sustainable development.

The Lobi Stars boss accompanied by Assistant Coach Benjamin Kude, stated that the club is scouting for promising players to groom into future stars.

He described football as a unifying force, which is aimed at bringing people together and promoting peace and social cohesion.

Ikya who said the tournament, organized by Fidelis Unongo, aligns with Governor Hyacinth Alia’s efforts to promote unity and peace in the state, praised Unongo’s visionary leadership and thanked football administrators, stakeholders, and dignitaries for their support.

He urged participating teams to uphold professionalism and sportsmanship, emphasizing the importance of playing according to the laws of the game as a vital tool in football.

The competition which started with participating club’s displaying their skills,saw Katsina-ala City FC defeating Impact FC 5-0.
