AMAC Polls: AA Chairmanship Candidate Withdraws, Endorses APC’s Zakka

Hon. Godson Nemieboka has withdrawn from the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship race, announcing his decision 48 hours to the election and throwing his support behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Christopher Zakka.

The Action Alliance, AA, chairmanship candidate said the decision followed wide consultations and was aimed at consolidating political strength to ensure stability, continuity and accelerated development in AMAC.

Nemieboka had been contesting the election on the platform of the Action Alliance and ran his campaign alongside his running mate, Hon. Philip Babawa, mobilising grassroots support across the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

According to him, continuing in the race at this stage would fragment votes and undermine the broader interest of the people, prompting a strategic realignment with the incumbent APC candidate ahead of Saturday’s poll.

“As the Federal Capital Territory Area Council Chairmanship Election enters its decisive phase, leadership demands clarity of purpose and strategic foresight.

“Following extensive consultations with my running mate, Hon. Philip Babawa, our campaign leadership, critical stakeholders, and respected voices across the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), I have taken the deliberate decision to step down from the Chairmanship race under the platform of the Action Alliance (AA), effective immediately 48 hours before the election.”

“This decision is neither impulsive nor pressured. It is strategic,” he said.

Nemieboka said his political structure and supporters would now work towards securing victory for the APC candidate, stressing that the move reflects leadership responsibility rather than retreat from public service.

“Accordingly, we have resolved to align with the incumbent Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Christopher Zakka, and to commit our structure, supporters, and political capital toward securing his victory at the polls on Saturday.

“I call on all members of our campaign structure, the Action Alliance family, our grassroots mobilizers, and supporters across AMAC to remain peaceful, organized, and resolute as we deliver victory for the APC candidate,” he added.
