AMAC Chairman Mourns Death Of Aide Yunusa Yusuf, Describes Him As Fallen Warrior

The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu in a heartfelt tribute, has described the late Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf popularly known as Buhun Borkonun, as “a great warrior” who fought tirelessly for the rights of the people.

Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, a Senior Special Assistant to the AMAC Chairman passed away after a brief illness. He was known for his advocacy work and dedication to the community.

Speaking at his funeral service, Maikalangu expressed his condolences to the family of the diseased, praying that God would see them through this difficult time.

The Chairman acknowledged the impact of Buhun Borkonun passing, stating that the entire city had lost a great advocate.

He noted that while death is inevitable, Buhun’s legacy would live on in the hearts of those he touched.

The Chairman prayed that God would raise more individuals like Buhun, who would continue to fight for the rights and welfare of the people.

He concluded by acknowledging the significance of Buhun’s contributions and the void left by his passing.

Also, the regional coordinator, Afro Arab Yourth council West Africa, Comrade Akoshile Mukhtar said the sudden loss of Buhun, a passionate advocate for good governance and youth rights in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has left a void in the advocacy community. Buhun was more than just an advocate; he was a friend, a mentor, and a beacon of hope for many young people.

According to him, Buhun’s dedication to advocacy was evident in his tireless efforts to checkmate government actions that were not in the best interest of the people. He was a vocal critic of bad governance and a champion of transparency and accountability. His work with the EndSARS and other initiatives demonstrated his commitment to creating positive change in the FCT.

“Buhun passing serves as a reminder of the importance of encouraging young people to get involved in advocacy. His courage, truthfulness, and willingness to speak truth to power are qualities that should be emulated by others. The government and other stakeholders must recognize the value of advocates like Buhun and provide support to those who are working tirelessly to promote good governance and human rights,” he said.

“As the community mourns the loss of Buhun, there are concerns about the welfare of his family, particularly his young wife who is reportedly jobless. It is hoped that the government will fulfill its promise to provide support to the family,” he added.

He urged that Buhun legacy should not be forgotten. His contributions to advocacy and good governance in the FCT should be recognized and celebrated. It is up to the government and the community to ensure that his work continues and that his legacy lives on.

Speaking, Bala Iyah, Buhun’s adopted father, spoke fondly of his late son, expressing no regrets about their relationship.

He credited their bond to divine guidance, saying, “Each of us has an angel guiding us, and I was Buhu’s angel.”

Bala Iyah revealed that he had been managing Buhun’s health issues for over a year, offering him reassurance and support during difficult times.

He described Buhun as a dedicated, devoted, and committed son, highlighting the strong bond they shared. Despite Buhun’s struggles with health and perceived persecution, he remained a steady source of comfort and guidance.
