Abductors of passengers on a Benue Links bus have demanded a ransom of N350 million.
The passengers were kidnapped on July 22 when gunmen suspected to be bandits ambushed the bus in Okpokwu Local Government Area and whisked the occupants into the bush at gunpoint.
Confirming the development to newsmen on Thursday, a relative of one of the victims, Terna Agbecha said his cousin, Hembadoon Akume, was among those abducted.
According to Agbecha, the kidnappers have already contacted the family with a demand of N30 million.
“They called and asked for N350 million. Our elder sister has paid N500,000, but they refused to set her free,” he said.
The families of the abducted passengers have appealed to the Benue State government and security agencies to intervene and secure the immediate release of their loved ones.
